Hilinski’s Hope visits Marietta College for wellness week

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - This week Marietta college is holding their wellness week. During the week they spend time addressing overall wellness.

Physical, mental, emotional, financial and other aspects of wellness are addressed by the college with the students.

As part of the mental wellness day the college brought in Hilinski’s Hope which is a foundation that focuses on mental health for students. This foundation was started after Tyler Hilinski died by suicide.

This week is meant to normalize mental health help for students to eliminate the stigma.

“We seek help for a broken bone, a cold, the things that are very easy to go out and get help for. When it’s inside you it’s not easy to go and get that help and we want to encourage everyone,” said Center of Health & Wellness RN, Kim Gandee.

The college will conclude wellness week this Friday with “Feel Good Friday”
