Ole Miss Takes Part in Student-Athlete Mental Health Week
Ole Miss Sports
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Athletics is partnering with the Hilinski's Hope Foundation once again to take part in Student-Athlete Mental Health Week.
Student-Athlete Mental Health Week is set for Oct. 5-12, coinciding with Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct. 1-7) and culminating with World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10.
Ole Miss is one of more than 250 schools and organizations participating in the fifth-annual SAMHW, the organization's annual week of collective action dedicated to addressing the mental wellbeing of student athletes and honor those who lost their lives.
"Student-Athlete Mental Health week sends an important message to athletes that they are important, they are more than just athletes, and they are not alone," said Assistant Athletics Director for Sport Psychology Dr. Josie Nicholson. "The games and activities during that week help reduce the stigma that surrounds mental illness and encourage everyone to take care of themselves and each other all year long."
