Cornell Athletics Hosts Mental Health Awareness Week

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell Athletics will host a Mental Health Awareness Week featuring several days of educational programming and five varsity contests that hope to bring additional visibility to the unique mental health challenges for college students, particularly student-athletes. The events are in partnership with the Cornell Athletics Committee on Mental Health, Cornell Health, NAMI Fingerlakes and Hilinski's Hope.
The week kicks off with a women's (1 p.m.) and men's (4 p.m.) soccer doubleheader vs. Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Berman Field that will serve as Mental Health Awareness Games with messaging and educational tabling. Other contests designated as Mental Health Awareness Games will be football vs. Harvard on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m., sprint football vs. Penn on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m., and field hockey vs. Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.
Three days of programming for student-athletes, coaches and staff will also accompany the games. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the topic will be "Cornell as a Health Promoting Campus and Introduction of our Department's Wellness Ambassadors Initiative." On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Cornell Health will present "Let's CU Flourish – A Toolkit for Well-Being". The final day of programming on Thursday, Oct. 10 will be "Learning about the Office of Student Support and Advocacy Services", primarily for staff to educate on additional campus services.
